Dwayne Johnson is taking on a new dramatic role as mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr in an upcoming A24 film from "Uncut Gems" co-director Benny Safdie. The film, titled "The Smashing Machine," will mark Safdie's solo directorial debut.

A24 has released the first look of Johnson in character as Kerr, a legendary MMA fighter from the no-holds-barred era of UFC. Kerr's career was marked by both success and personal struggles, including addiction.

Johnson is known for his roles in action films such as the "Fast & Furious" franchise and "Jumanji." This new role will allow him to showcase his acting range and explore a character with a complex and troubled past.
